Official Kuroko’s Basketball Street Rivals Game Soon to Launch

Kuroke no Basuke (Kuroko’s Basketball), a top-selling manga series during its run that was adapted into a similarly popular anime, is now set to gain another adaptation thanks to a game titled Kuroko’s Basketball Street Rivals.

The developer of the game, FIVECROSS, recently made an X (formerly Twitter) post announcing a Nov. 16 release date for the anticipated mobile game. It will be based on the anime adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s original manga and feature many faces familiar to fans of the show.

Gamers will be able to select and play with characters from the anime such as the titular Tetsuya Kuroko or his co-protagonist, Taiga Kagami. Players will aim to level the characters up and develop their skills in order to dominate 3v3 basketball challenges. A real-time 3D mobile game, Street Rivals will allow players to control any one of their team’s three characters at a time, aiming to get steals, rebounds, assists and points. Each character comes with different strengths and abilities, as well as unique special skills that replicate what’s shown in the anime and manga.

Kuroko no Basuke had its manga publication run from 2008 to 2014 and was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, the magazine also known for publishing other now-household names including Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and My Hero Academia. The story was adapted into an anime of the same name, with the first season releasing in 2013, the second in 2013 and its third and final season in 2015.

The story of Kuroko no Basuke follows Tetsuya Kuroko, an unassuming teenage boy in his first year of high school. He has a great love for the game of basketball and chooses to join his school’s team to pursue that passion. However, he lacks the physical strength, agility or speed that make a great player. This is contrasted by Taiga Kagami, also a first-year student but far more athletically gifted and feral in his pursuit of victory. Kagami’s strength is obvious and bright, while Kuroko finds his strengths in the shadows. The two of them, along with the rest of the Seirin High basketball club, face off against their rivals, the most prominent and fearsome of whom are the Generation of Miracles — Kuroko’s own former middle school teammates.

Kuroko no Basuke Street Rivals is set to release on Nov. 16th.
