Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Players Discover Bug That Fixes Endgame’s Eternal Afternoon

Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have come up with a workaround to get past the game’s time of day lock after completing the campaign.

The latest entry in Marvel’s Spider-Man video game franchise left some fans frustrated that there is no option to change the game’s daily time after the story is over, leading them to look for ways to explore New York City in-game outside the locked-in ‘eternal afternoon’. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) found a way to do so and shared a video of their workaround. The method utilizes the game’s Mysterium location, using the shortcut settings to slow things down, and then playing on the map to replay and quit. The workaround appears unintentional and Insomniac, the game’s developer who is also working on a Wolverine video game, may patch the workaround out in future updates as a result.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Offers Plenty of Content After Game Completion

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on Oct. 20 for PlayStation 5 to critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. The game sees Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up to face new threats facing New York City, including facing off with Kraven the Hunter and Venom. As fans raced to complete the game’s story, being stuck in the game’s afternoon environment afterward has been one frustration fans have faced. The first title in the franchise offered fans the option to change the time — one of the main reasons some fans are perplexed by the decision to leave this feature out in the sequel.

Despite this feature being overlooked, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 still packs plenty of content for players once the campaign is over. After the first run-through, players are presented with ‘Ultimate Difficulty’ — a game mode that increases enemies’ health, damage and stealth awareness. Finishing the campaign also brings up one extra EMF experiment quest after the game’s post-credits scenes which rewards players with a new suit for Peter Parker for their efforts. Insomniac has also teased a new game mode to arrive by the end of the year. Other DLCs for the game have yet to be announced, but in-game side missions appear to set up new content.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available now for purchase exclusively on PlayStation.
