New Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch Delivers 1,000 Fixes, Color-Blind Customization

The new Baldur’s Gate 3 update not only fixes numerous bugs in all segments of the game but also adds important accessibility options.

Patch 4 for Baldur’s Gate is now available, and its 14.13 GB are packed with fixes and new features for the game. According to the patch notes shared by developer Larian Games, the update features over 1,000 fixes and changes, including details such as the ability to hold instead of just pressing a button to end the player’s turn if they are using control.

One of the significant changes that also comes with this update is the inclusion of a setting in the Accessibility Tab that allows players to choose between three types of color blindness: protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia. Once one of these options is chosen, UI elements such as character outlines and circles, character map markers, frame portraits in turn order and party portraits are modified to easily differentiate factions and relationships.

Other useful new features are the ability to customize the appearance of hirelings after they are recruited, the ability to use Scratch to “fetch pretty much everything” and even the option to reuse Speak with Dead with characters who do not want to respond the first time by casting Wild Shape and trying again.

Patches Continue to Shape the Baldur’s Gate 3 RPG Experience

The new patch also revisits and improves recognized features introduced in previous updates, such as Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends. Withers now explains how to use this feature, which allows characters created by friends in multiplayer games to be saved to continue the campaign while the player is offline. In addition, the option to dismiss dead avatars to the Wardrobe to declutter the game experience is also available.

Several quality-of-life details have likewise been included, such as more autosave points for various locations in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, Wyrm’s Crossing and Lower City. Elements have also been added to increase the immersive experience for players that may go unnoticed, like using sponges and soaps to clean team members and remove traces of blood or even bad smells.

Many issues affecting acts one, two and three of the game have been acknowledged, and more than 50 fixes are included in the most recent update particularly for act three, changing details such as weapons and rewards of some enemies, along with complete modifications to specific battle mechanics against certain bosses.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC and Mac. Patch v4.1.1.3882084 is now available across all platforms.
