Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Lead Teases Peter Parker and Miles Morales Dynamic

The voice of Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has lent some insight into what the dynamic of the Spider-Men will be like.

Yuri Lowenthal has been the voice of Peter Parker since the original PS4 title, and was there in small bursts for the Miles Morales-focused spinoff on PS5. For the upcoming sequel, the Spider-Men will be pushed to their limits in more ways than one. In an interview with Collider, Lowenthal noted how fun it’s been working with Miles’ voice actor throughout these games. “I mean, me and Nadji now have known each other since that first game. Much like Peter does in this game with Miles, I’ve gotten to watch Nadji grow up and come into his own and really tune into his power and who he is.”

The Spider-Men Rely On Each Other in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

As for the dynamic between Peter and Miles, it will “shift” at times during the campaign: “I love seeing that relationship play out in the game because the first game was more Pete’s game, and the second game was obviously more Miles’ game, and this one is very evenhanded. Both of them get powerful, powerful journeys, and you really get to see Miles come into his own and really stand in his power. At certain points throughout the game, the relationship tips where Miles is guiding Pete, where Pete loses his way, and Miles has to become very heavy-handed—without giving too much away—he steps beyond the mentorship and into tough love.”

While he didn’t outright say it, Lowenthal is likely referring to how it will be up to Miles and others to pull Peter away from the corruptive influence of the Venom symbiote. Multiple trailers have highlighted the power of the Symbiote Suit and how the alien entity is infecting Peter’s mind, making him more aggressive and hateful.

That’s not to say that Miles Morales won’t be dealing with his own problems. His arc will have many peaks and valleys as he attempts to balance being Spider-Man while attending college and maintaining a social life. He’ll also come face-to-face with Mr. Negative, the man who took his father’s life in the first game. What he does in that moment will define him, and it might well be up to Peter to pull him off of that ledge. No matter what, the Spider-Men will be relying on each other to get through the coming crisis.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrives on PS5 on Oct. 20th.
