Nintendo Reveals Halloween-Themed Splatoon 3 Splatfest

Nintendo of America has revealed the next Splatfest for Splatoon 3, and it will be a Halloween-themed event.

Splatfests are special events that the franchise typically hosts every month or so to bring the fan base together. A debate question is posed to the players, who will pick the side they want to support the most. In Splatoon 3, there are three options to choose from. Once they’ve made their choice, they will fight in Turf Wars, Tricolor Battles and even elite ranking modes to try and earn points for their side. The side with the most points at the end of the two-day period wins the Splatfest.

Splatoon 3 Gets Ready for Halloween

The newest topic focuses on classic Halloween creatures, but players will not pick who is the scariest or best Halloween creature overall. Instead, they’ll have to decide which would make the best friend between a zombie, a skeleton and a ghost. This slight twist in topic is likely to make gamers think hard before they make a decision. Nintendo also revealed that there will be special Halloween-themed headgear for players to pick up if they pay attention to the Splatoon 3 news channel on their Nintendo Switch systems.

Splatfests have been one of the key points separating the franchise from others in Nintendo’s roster. However, DLC is coming to the game that will help expand what players can do. The Side Order DLC is coming next year and will feature the return of fan-favorite characters like Pearl, Marina and the player character of Agent 8. The player character will need to head into an “order version” of a familiar location and then into the Spire of Order in an attempt to save Marina. They will be assisted by Pearl, who is in drone form.

However, players aren’t alone in the tower; another character is searching for Marina, and she’s willing to help gamers by teaching them how to get through the spire. That includes helping them understand the chip system that will give them special boosts and abilities. Nintendo highlighted in a previous Nintendo Direct that it designed the DLC to be one that players could enjoy repeatedly while still having it feel fresh. The chip system and the way players proceed through the tower on a level-by-level basis is undoubtedly part of this.

The Splatoon 3 Halloween Splatfest will begin Oct. 27 and end Oct. 29.
