Assassin’s Creed Mirage Is Ubisoft’s Most Successful New Gen Title Yet

Ubisoft has stated that it is very happy with the launch sales of Assassin’s Creed Mirage on next-gen systems.

The company released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting how the game was doing and the success the title has had compared to others in the franchise that came out in recent years. In the statement, Ubisoft proclaimed, “With the number of players being in line with past successful launches such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we are humbled by the positive reception. We are proud to also share that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the biggest New Gen launch in terms of units sales to date at Ubisoft (PS5, Xbox Series X-S).”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Does Well in Sales

The game’s success will undoubtedly bolster Ubisoft’s long-term confidence in the title and possibly push the company to do more “self-contained” tales in the franchise moving forward. Assassin’s Creed Mirage was originally meant to be DLC for its last entry, as that’s where the main character, Basim, debuted. However, the more the team behind the idea dove into things, the more it realized that this should be a full game and Basim should have his time to shine. Fans welcomed the decision for multiple reasons.

One of the biggest was that ever since the reboot of the franchise, the games have progressively gotten bigger and more expansive, to the point where there were miles upon miles of areas for gamers to go through and search for content and action. Many players noted that they desired a more refined experience, which they’ve gotten in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game is set in Baghdad, and the city is full of places to explore while not feeling overly bloated. The game’s story also speaks to the nature of the original games in style and tone.

In the newest entry, Basim isn’t the weathered warrior that gamers eventually meet. Instead, he’s a new recruit of the Hidden Ones and is watched over by experienced assassin Rosham. Basim is brought in to help rid Baghdad of the tyranny holding it back. He must learn the skills of an assassin and use them to take care of the people while cutting out the rot that poisons their home. The game boasts that Basim can become the “most versatile assassin” in series history, and there are numerous challenges for him to face, including the one that will impact his destiny in the future.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available now on console and PC.
