The Last of Us Part 2 will seemingly have a remaster according to the LinkedIn of a Naughty Dog Employee.
In a report from Insider Gaming, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 is apparently being remastered. This information was found when a user took a screenshot of the LinkedIn profile of Naughty Dog’s Lead Outsource Artist, Mark Pajarillo, and found The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered clearly mentioned in his portfolio. With no official confirmation, however, this remaster still remains in the realm of speculation. Adding to these rumors is Neil Druckmann announcing his work on an unnamed PS5 project. If these speculations are true, the release of this remaster will most likely coincide with the release of the second season of The Last of Us’ critically acclaimed HBO Series.
Naughty Dog Developer Leaks The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
The developer in question, Mark Pajarillo, is a longtime member of Naughty Dog’s team. Since 2012, he has worked as an environmental artist for Naughty Dog and particularly The Last of Us franchise. Along with that, he is also someone well-connected within the game development process, working to bring together various departments to bring the creative vision to life. Mark’s bio describes himself as having a “proven track record in overseeing the production of outsourced art assets and integrating them seamlessly into game engines.” Given his history and seniority within Naughty Dog, he could be a valuable source of information on the potential release of The Last of Us Part 2.
While The Last of Us has no doubt received widespread acclaim since its beginning ten years ago, in recent years fans have been concerned about Naughty Dog relying too heavily on ports and remasters of the game for sales. These concerns are likely to be exacerbated given that The Last of Us Part 2 was released a mere three years ago, leaving little room for improvement.
While this may sound like good news for The Last of Us Franchise, there have been troubles with Naughty Dog as a company recently. For example, Naughty Dog recently laid off a large chunk of its staff, brought an end to the Uncharted series, and production on the TV show has been halted due to the ongoing strikes.
The Last of Us Part 2 is available now on the PlayStation 4.
