A Festive Pokémon TCG Pop-Up Could be Landing in Your City

In the spirit of the festive season, The Pokémon Company International has announced a Pokémon Trading Card Game pop-up experience called Poké Post.

Per Games Press, the initiative will launch across select cities in the UK, France and Germany, embarking on a six-week tour from Nov. 18 to Dec. 19, 2023. The Poké Post pop-up offers an opportunity for participants to send a gift to a loved one. Attendees can choose between a Pikachu or Eevee TCG gift pack, which they can then post to someone special as a festive surprise. Each gift pack includes a corresponding Pokémon Together promo card of either Pikachu or Eevee and a fun pack. Participants will also receive a second gift pack to keep for themselves. The pop-up experience also promises photo opportunities featuring appearances by iconic Pokémon characters Pikachu and Eevee.

The Poké Post pop-up will take place at the following locations:

  • Saturday, Nov. 18: Castle Street, Edinburgh
  • Wednesday, Nov. 22: The Hayes, Cardiff
  • Saturday, Nov. 25: Place de La Défense, Paris
  • Saturday, Dec. 2: Westfield La Part-Dieu, Lyon
  • Wednesday, Dec. 6: Pasing Arcaden, Munich
  • Saturday, Dec. 9: Mercedes Platz, Berlin
  • Saturday, Dec. 16: Ruhr Park, Bochum
  • Tuesday, Dec. 19: Queen’s Walk, London

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement about the event: “If there is someone in your life that would love to receive a Pokémon-themed surprise through the post this winter, then this is the place to sign them up! We can’t wait to welcome the new generation of Pokémon Trainers who are starting their journey with someone special this holiday.”

These gift packs are a welcome addition to the recently released , which introduced a whopping 180 cards featuring seven rare and eye-catching gold etched cards. Players who could not purchase the full pack can at least settle for the consolation of the cards included in the gift pack.

While Pokémon marketing and community involvement has always been strong, this event comes on the tail of several notable collaborations, including a high-end jewelery collection with Tiffanys and an upcoming stop-motion series to premiere on Netflix — although none of those collaborations compare to the mayhem that a limited-edition Pikachu card caused at the Van Gogh Museum.
