Atlus Drops Persona 3 Reload’s Mitsuru Kirijo Character Trailer

Atlus has revealed the latest trailer detailing Mitsuru Kirijo’s character in the run-up to the Persona 3 Reload release.

As players get closer to the release of Persona 3 Reload, Atlus has kept fans satiated by pushing out a steady stream of content showcasing the game, and now it’s dropped the character trailer for the protagonist’s future classmate. An heir to a business dynasty and valedictorian, Mitsuru joins the S.E.E.S team, using her analytical skills to take up the role of navigator, ensuring the team has some sense of direction in the dungeons of Tartarus. Summoning her Amazonian-derived Persona, Penthalisa, Mitsuru will fill one of the elemental specialty roles with her affinity for ice magic. Mitsuru will be voiced by Allegra Clark in English and Rie Tanaka in Japanese.

This is the third character profile trailer Atlus has launched and one of many detailing the entire game. Previously, players were given the chance to get to know Makoto Yuki and Akihiko Sanada. Meanwhile, Mitsuru will take the role of a party member, social link and possible love interest for the protagonist. Persona 3 Reload serves as a reinterpretation of the original 2006 JRPG release. The game aims to create a modernized experience for an ever-increasing fan base.

The Shin Megami Tensei series has never been mainstream; however, following the much beloved Persona 4 Golden release and the explosive success of Persona 5, the series has been catapulted into the AAA arena. Persona, a spinoff of the main Megami Tensei franchise, is noted for driving the series’ newfound popularity. With the original release of the first iteration in 1996, the series has continued to build and refine its unique aspects. Unlike the mainline Megami Tensei games, which often focus on challenging the player to master its often demanding dungeons and nuanced demon fusion system, Persona takes a more lighthearted tone. It combines the classic dungeon crawling and demon-fusing mechanics with aspects of a life simulator, where what players do outside the dungeon matters as much as what they do inside.

The success of Persona 5 has paved the way for Atlus to reimagine Persona 3 and put a greater emphasis on the spinoff series. Earlier players were treated to the once PlayStation-locked Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, now available on modern systems.

Persona 3 Reload is scheduled for worldwide release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Feb. 2, 2024.
