In celebration of the Mass Effect holiday N7 Day, BioWare released a short teaser for an upcoming game.
BioWare has launched a short teaser on YouTube for an upcoming game from the series. Prior to the official trailer, BioWare dropped cryptic, five-second clips across the internet with secret messages. This concluded with them releasing a single, thirty-minute teaser on the official Mass Effect YouTube channel. This was the first video uploaded to the franchise’s YouTube channel since the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition 2 years ago. As there has yet to be an official announcement, players still need to wait for any other information.
What Players Learned From the Mass Effect Teaser
Given the short and mysterious nature of the teaser, it was likely created to build hype rather than give away any concrete details. The only thing viewers see is a female human in a Shepherd-esque suit marching towards a bright exit. It is unknown which character this was. While the series logo appeared at the end there were no confirmed dates or titles.
N7 Day is an official celebration of the Mass Effect series that began in 2012 and is named after Commander Shepherd’s rank in the universe. N7 Day commonly provides apparel, figurines, comic bundles and donations to the Child’s Play charity from EA and BioWare.
Barring the re-release of the original trilogy, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, the last game in the series came out six years ago with Mass Effect: Andromeda. The game received middling reviews from critics. This possible new installment could give the franchise a chance to reignite the series for a new generation of gamers.
While this teaser may be exciting to fans, BioWare has faced management issues behind the scenes. Mere months ago, BioWare was oneof many gaming companies that laid off a huge section of its workforce for economic reasons. BioWare was alsothe subject of several lawsuits from former employees over severance pay. As for the sister series of Mass Effect, Dragon Age, its next game is slated for release in 2024.
