Daisy Ridley Teases Her ‘Really Cool’ Star Wars Sequel: ‘I’m Very Excited’

Actress Daisy Ridley, known for her role as Rey Skywalker, recently shared her surprise and excitement about her upcoming new Star Wars film.

During an interview with Collider to discuss her new film Sometimes I Think About Dying, Ridley expressed her anticipation for her return to the Star Wars franchise. She mentioned, “I’m very excited. The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited.” Although details about the new movie are scarce, fans were informed at the Star Wars Celebration in April that the film would focus on Rey’s attempt to revive the Jedi Order.

Ridley also talked about the timeline of her involvement in the new film, where she will serve as a producer as well. She stated, “[At the beginning of this year], I had not been approached…I was asked something when I was there and strangely, people were asking me stuff and I was like, ‘No, I’m not doing another one.’ Then it all happened after I came back.” Additionally, Ridley shared her nervousness before her surprise appearance at Star Wars Celebration, noting the positive reception she received.

Creative Changes at Lucasfilm

Recent reports from Vanity Fair revealed creative changes at Lucasfilm, coinciding with the latest Star Wars series, Ahsoka. It was announced that the franchise is planning a comeback to the big screen with the introduction of Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars movie and Dave Filoni’s speculated Heir to the Empire adaptation. Filoni will be taking on a more significant role as Chief Creative Officer, indicating a shift in the franchise’s creative direction.

Filoni expressed his enhanced involvement in all future Star Wars stories from their inception, underscoring a change from the previous approach where he was consulted during active development. His promotion is significant given the setup of his future live action movie through Ahsoka, which saw Thrawn’s return to the known galaxy, setting the stage for another conflict with the New Republic.
