While the Kawasaki Factory Night View Cruise is a regularly scheduled sightseeing event, this cruise will enhance each aspect of the elements of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Guests will take on the roles of Shinra employees, viewing the fruits of their labor and the opportunity to provide the amoral corporation with feedback. On arrival, guests will be addressed by the head of Shinra Company’s Urban Development Department, Reeve Tuesti, who will explain how to make the most of this role-play. The cruise ship’s interior will be decorated in classic Shinra colors; guests can expect the iconic deep scarlet and accents from Shinra HQ. There are also hulking factories on a deck lit to mimic the glow of the world’s power source, the Lifestream.

The evening will have musical accompaniment featuring a mix of Nobuo Uematsu composed tracks from Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII Remake. The boat will fittingly depart to “Prelude”, the classic menu theme featured in nearly every Final Fantasy game. The cruise treats guests to two themed drinks, the Shinra Cafe Special and the Midgar Fizz. Employees who complete the survey at the end of the night receive exclusive character stickers from every executive at the company.

Final Fantasy VII was revolutionary for many reasons, including its depiction of a dystopian cyberpunk-esque city. While Final Fantasy worlds often are a literal incarnation of the typical D&D formula, Final Fantasy VI dared to break tradition by introducing a technologically advanced world. Midgar is a character unto itself and defines the first half of Final Fantasy VII. Shinra’s use of the Lifestream or Mako to power the megalopolis created an environmental disaster. This, in turn, spurs eco-terrorist group Avalanche to bomb Mako Reactor 1, setting the events of Final Fantasy VII in motion.

Fans have been positively inundated with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth content. TGS revealed a trove of information on content such as Chocobo riding,Zack Fair’s role in the follow-up, and even giving media a chance to get hands-on impressions. Final Fantasy Rebirth is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and is slated for a 29 February 2024 release.
