Rockstar Games will release the first trailer for the highly anticipated next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise sometime in early December.
In a press release, Rockstar celebrated its 25th anniversary by thanking its worldwide player base for their support and passion throughout over two decades of production. “Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us.” The press release closes by promising the release of “the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto” in early December.
The New GTA Will Be The Latest Hit For A Classic Studio
Founded in 1998, Rockstar Games is the publisher behind a host of popular video games and video game franchises, GTA among them. The company also published the such hits as Max Payne, the Red Dead series, L.A. Noire, and Bully. The most recent GTA games, GTA V and the corresponding GTA Online, are some of the most popular video games of all time. GTA V has sold nearly 200 million copies since its release in 2013, only losing out the top slot to Minecraft. Fans have been clamoring for a GTA 6 for years, almost rivaling the hype around the long-awaited Half-Life 3.
The next GTA game will be the first new title in the series in over 10 years, bar a remaster of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas released in 2021. This will mark the eighth main game in the GTA series, which started with 1997’s Grand Theft Auto. The announcement for the trailer coming this December did not specify that the new game would in fact be titled Grand Theft Auto 6, just that it would be “the next Grand Theft Auto.” Speculation abounds among GTA fans about whether the next game will feature a new setting or return to an iconic location from a previous game like San Andreas, Los Santos, or Liberty City.
