Nintendo Reveals Sneak Peek of Hogwarts Legacy Screenshots on Switch

Nintendo Switch players won’t have to wait much longer to experience Hogwarts Legacy, with a release date now confirmed along with a tease of in-game screenshots.

Nintendo released a much-anticipated update on the Hogwarts Legacy for the Switch, offering players an added treat with a set of gameplay screenshots. After months of delay, the game will finally be available on the Switch starting Nov. 14. Players can pre-order either the base game or the Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with additional content: the Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Battle Arena, Dark Arts Garrison Hat and Dark Arts Cosmetic Set. The Digital Deluxe Edition notably has a file size of 31.3 GB — a significant difference compared to the base game’s 6.8 GB, and something to consider for players who want to maximize value when purchasing the game.

A set of seven images was also teased, all screenshot in-game from Switch. The images look promising and even impressive considering the console’s technical limits. Console adaptations of games often come with discrepancies, but Hogwarts Legacy should be compared across all console releases with heavy consideration for the Nintendo Switch’s modest capabilities. The released screenshots appeared satisfactory enough but the diminished quality is evident, which is expected from a game running at a much lower resolution and processing rate. However, developer Avalanche Software has a long line of games to its credit, and the impressive work it has done for Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation, Xbox and PC sets the same quality expectations on the Switch.

An Open-World Hogwarts on the Nintendo Switch

Hogwarts Legacy‘s official description for the Nintendo Switch hints that the game will also be expansive: “Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Freely roam Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and the surrounding Overland area.” This should offer Switch players plenty of space to scour outside of finishing the story or completing side quests.

The update does not mention additional DLC offerings, at least for the moment. Nonetheless, given the enduring popularity of Hogwarts Legacy eight months after its initial release, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Switch version was followed by waves of DLC to boost repeat value and playability.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
