Persona 3 Reload Trailer Highlights “Undefeated Brawler” Akihiko

Atlus has released a new trailer for Persona 3 Reload, which details the character Akihiko and his Persona.

Akihiko Sanada is known as the “Undefeated Brawler” of the S.E.E.S. group and will be voiced by Alejandro Saab. He notes in the trailer how his initial goal in life was to get the strength he needed to protect those around him. Akihiko even went so far as to keep himself apart from others and compete with anyone he could to gain the strength required to complete his goal. However, thanks to being in the S.E.E.S. group and unlocking his Persona to help fight the “Dark Hour,” Akihiko has gained a new perspective in life.

The Boxer Arrives in Persona 3 Reload

Due to his personality and drive for strength, Akihiko pushes himself constantly to do work even when it’s not required. One such example is at the trailer’s beginning when he needlessly exercises while working on homework with his friends. He’s also one of the first people in the group who will actively get into a fight when one pops up. Due to his status as a boxer and upperclassman, he has a dedicated fan base of girls that follows him around, much to his dismay, as he is rather shy on the inside.

True to his nature, when Akihiko enters Tartarus, he unleashes his Persona, Polydeuces or Caesar, depending on whether the player has grown their Social Link with Akihiko during the story. He is one of many characters that players will bring into the S.E.E.S. Group in Persona 3 Reload. The game is a full remake of the original 2006 title by Atlus, which gamers can see in the trailer via the title’s slick visuals, U.I. and music. However, the team at Atlus has stated that while improvements have been made, much of the original story remains intact.

This message came from producer Ryota Niitsuma and director Takuya Yamaguchi, who noted that Persona 3 Reload would keep its “main arc” while tailoring and improving parts to suit both veteran gamers and those newer to the series. One of the big drives for the Atlus team was to help with onboarding new and familiar gamers into the title without having them relearn things that the other main titles did differently. They focused on trying to make it so that no matter a gamer’s experience with the franchise, players can simply dive in and have fun.

Persona 3 Reload arrives on console and P.C. on Feb. 2, 2024.
