Spider-Man 2 Easter Eggs Homage Chadwick Boseman

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 contains some Easter eggs referencing Black Panther, the MCU and actor Chadwick Boseman.

One hidden feature can be found in a specific part of New York City where a building has a plaque reading “Embassy of Wakanda.” The Easter egg here was shown on X (formerly Twitter), and in the clip, Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games gets Spider-Man — in this case, Miles Morales — to do the ‘Wakanda Forever’ pose, made famous by the late actor Chadwick Boseman. It was also discovered by another X user that the game contains an official Black Panther outfit that can be worn by players.

Chadwick Boseman played Black Panther/T’Challa for several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He debuted in Captain America: Civil War, where he donned the Black Panther suit for the first time and teased the arrival of Wakanda. He next starred in the Black Panther film, which grossed over a billion dollars at the global box office, followed by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Boseman was slated for more MCU films before sadly passing away due to complications related to colon cancer. The sequel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever shaped its plot around the in-canon death of T’Challa and how it affected his family, his nation and the title of Black Panther itself.

There have been many tributes to Boseman since his passing, both within the MCU and outside it, and many will likely seek out these related Easter eggs in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The initial Marvel’s Spider-Man title from Insomniac Games had numerous Easter eggs from Marvel Comics, the MCU and beyond that players continually found, including references to Iron Fist, Daredevil, the Avengers and other heroes located in New York City. There are also likely other Easter eggs within Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that haven’t yet been located.

The plot of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 focuses on several new threats coming to New York City and testing both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their roles as Spider-Man. The first is Kraven the Hunter, who arrives with an army to hunt the various superheroes and villains that roam the city looking for a challenge worthy of his skills. Another threat is the Venom Symbiote, which finds Peter Parker a “worthy host” for its powers and slowly corrupts him. The game features several advances to its combat systems and traversal while expanding New York City and where players can go.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available now for PS5.
