Stage the Perfect Bells Hells Caper in Critical Role’s Colorful New Card Game

Critical Role‘s tabletop publishing branch, Darrington Press, has launched a quick and colorful card caper perfect for fans of Campaign 3’s Bells Hells party.

According to Darrington Press, Caper Cards: Bells Hells debuts in October 2023 and offers a cooperative heist experience for one to four players. The new game was designed by Manny Vega with the art of player characters and Exandrian artifacts brought to life by David Rodrigues. The collective goal of the blackjack-esque game is to strategically play crew cards in order to surpass the value of the treasure the party is pursuing, without going over twenty-one. In addition to the main crew cards, the Bells Hells game features one Ruidus risk card, ten rewards cards, and a player one marker card.

The card game boasts twenty-four crew cards with colorful art of each member of Bells Hells, including Robbie Daymond’s bard Dorian Storm. Each Bells Hells member has three cards within the deck, complete apropos moon-based imagery on the card’s backside, and each character comes with an assigned numerical value and ability. For example, the Chetney Pock O’Pea’s card comes equipped with the fitting flexibility to be played as either a six or a nine. Other roles include Orym of the Air Ashari as “The Fixer”, Laudna as “The Insider”, and Fresh Cut Grass as “The Specialist”.

The Bells Hells’ Caper Cards mark the second occasion in which Critical Role has utilized its publishing branch to craft a tie-in game to one of its Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. Uk’otoa, another collaborative game, gathered tabletop board game fans to thwart the titular Mighty Nein foe. Though not published by Darrington Press, Critical Role‘s second campaign has inspired other tie-in tabletop games such as Clue and Munchkin. Other entries from Darrington Press include original tabletop games such as Queen by Midnight and the upcoming Guardians of Matrimonia.

Caper Cards prove a thematic fit for the Bells Hells, a party that features competitive thieving duo Ashton Greymoore and Fearne Calloway and has even competed in a heist contest at the Twilight Mirror Museum. The bounty on Dorian Storm’s brother, Cyrus Wyvernwind, even inspired an entire casino heist spin-off in the Aabria Iyengar-led Exandria Unlimited: Kymal. Now fans can bring the Bells Hells’ inherent heisting nature home with Caper Cards: Bells Hells.

As for the Bells Hells themselves, the party continues their apocalypse-outrunning adventures in Critical Role‘s third campaign which streams on Thursdays at 7 PT on Twitch and YouTube.
