You Can Eat the New Xbox Controller

Microsoft has broken into the world of confectioneries with its newest reveal: an Xbox Series X|S controller made entirely out of chocolate straight out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

The tech giant recently revealed its newest edition of the Xbox Series X with a chocolaty-sweet new console design complete with two exclusive controllers; one with a dark burgundy color exclusive to the bundle and another that is fully edible and wrapped in gold. To make things extra colorful, the company also included a display reminiscent of the old-fashioned candy store Wonka himself once owned, complete with coin-operated gumball machines and rounded windows.

Additionally, the bundle includes a boxed selection of chocolate truffles meant to enhance the gaming experience with flavors like Achievement Hunting, Button Masher, Your Citrus Sidekick and Xtra Kick, which range from energizing to spicy with ingredients like natural espresso and pepper extract. For the chocolate purists out there, the box also includes a Wonka for the Win truffle, which is made of pure milk chocolate without any extra ingredients.

However, obtaining the bundle is similar to winning a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, as Microsoft is only giving out a select number of them in social media sweepstakes on X (formerly Twitter) to fans who retweet the official post announcing the giveaway. The bundle is not available for retail sale, and Microsoft reportedly has no plans for a release outside the official sweepstakes.

The bundle comes from a recent collaboration between Microsoft and Warner Bros. in promotion of the upcoming Wonka film set to hit theaters next month, which will tell the story of the fantastical chocolatier’s early years. A prequel to Roald Dahl’s legendary novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka sees Dune star Timothée Chalamet take on the top hat and burgundy coat to portray the titular candy maker, with Hugh Grant, Keegan-Michael Key and Olivia Colman also among the cast.

Officially, the film has no direct connection to previous cinematic iterations of the novel, such as Gene Wilder’s original classic or the Tim Burton film, instead pulling its story directly from the novel. It will effectively serve as a prequel to the book’s events with Willy Wonka as the protagonist, covering the inception of all the classic elements the character is known for.

Wonka releases exclusively in theaters on Dec. 15. The official Xbox Series X edition is available only through Microsoft’s sweepstakes on X.
